Building up your inbound links is very important to the success of your website and to earning traffic.  So yes, you should take it seriosuly but you should also take it slowly.  Here is why.... You see....buying a mass of one way links that are immediately active (link farms) sets off flags.  Its sneaky and also the lazy way of building links.  Given that, you probably won't feel good about doing it.  The best method is hard work...one by one building your links...Hard work pays off.

Do the right thing and do it slowly. The Google Bot will not take kindly when indexing your site if all the sudden one morning, it finds a mass of inbound links to your site.  UGH.  You must also realize that Google is always improving its algorthim to detect these kinds of tactics.

The old fashion method of manually or semi manually adding these links is best.  Hiring somebody to do this for you is fine too, they will have the time to get things started for you by submitting to fine directories such as this one .  Directories are a good start because you usualy can guarantee that you will get a link in a day or even a few days to a week and it will count towards bulding up your PageRank.  Plus there are many specialized directories that will pertain to your site theme.

Search engines are important too and another way to earn links.  Keep in mind, they may not be static links but based on search results from entered keywords.  But they are important!  Make sure they keep up with their promise, these sites usually take longer to add you to their inventory.

Articles sites and blogs are also a great place to promote your biz and get links.  Keep your content unique and fresh and timeless.

Social bookmarking sites and social networks sites too...Post to the biggies such as facebook.com, squidoo.com.  Bookmarking sites such as del.icio.us, stumbleupon.com. Don't  forget to cover all grounds. Please check out our member sites, we have a lot of great sites:

You will also have to browse the net and find ways to get links back to you from related websites.  Many of them offer reciprocal link exchanges.  This is a good start and should always be done.  Reciprocal links are a way to get traffic and build up partnerships so don't frown upon it.  Paid links are fine too but as stated before, slowwwwwwwwwwwwwly.

If you do hire somebody to handle this for you, make sure you know where they post for you so you can keep up with the links and to make sure you refresh your links as many may expire.  They usually have tools that can automate the tasks and to find you the most appropriate link partners and sites for you to link to/from.

Best of Luck with your sites!!
