Domain names are a great investment and are a lot of fun. If you are a domain name junkie, then you know how rewarding it is to stumble upon a good domain name, and also how frustrating it is too when they are all taken. But if you are new to the domain name buying thing, don't give up, there are numerous possiblities that exist for you. What you can do is: 1. Read what Godaddy suggests for you. They will list variations of your domain name. 2. Longer is ok too. All the shorter domain names are taken so it is ok to go a little longer. This will soon be the trend with people buying so many domain names. 3. Reserve your name or your kids names!! Just think of how fun it will be when you can give your child a domain name for their birthday when they are older They may be too young to enjoy it now, but a domain name is an investment and will surely increase in value as it ages. use the .name extension too. 4. Like .name, there are other suffixes that should be looked into such as .net, .mobi, .org. But keep in mind, if the xxx.com version of your great idea is a fully developed website, then you will always be living in their shadow if you are a xxx.net. ...but if that domain is just a doorway page or parked still, then go for it. 5. Buying a domain name is always an option. Go to www.sedo.com, or www.tdnam.com and search for a domain name. You will find that many are very cheap! 6. Have fun. Domain names are inexpensive to buy, and easy to do. It is an investment, either for your business or for your children when they are older.
